I thought I was going to be a Spice Girl; my mom prayed for me to become a nun. I was too sassy, too vibrant and uncensored for the church - a little girl with big dreams to become a pop star in the greatest all-girl British band was not going to happen. Not because I couldn’t rock the platform shoes or the flashy outfits, I just couldn’t (still can’t) sing. What I could do, however, was use my voice to tell stories - unapologetically honest, thought-provoking, with a healthy serving of humour.
